What is de-sulfation and why is our process superior?

Traction Direct were one of the very first companies to develop the car battery de-sulfation process in the 1980s, but our system has an added benefit that other chargers don’t offer.

What is de-sulfation

When a battery is left unchanged or not fully charged for long periods of time, deposits of lead sufhur form on the lead plates and harden over time, inhibiting the performance of the battery.

The desulfator breaks down the sulfur that has built up and dissolves it. It does this by passing voltage or high-frequency pulses to zap the sulfates. The electricity loosens the sulfates and they then drop into the battery acid and dissolves. This process results in no harm to the battery.

De-sulfation will restore the battery to full capacity, thus increasing its performance and durability. In our experience this conditioning process is very successful at extending the life of an automotive battery.

What makes our system special?

Our research has led the market and as such the process has become a common feature of battery chargers. Not only that, the Traction Direct Sulphation Recovery System allows for an automatic progression from de-sulfation to charging, so that the user doesn't have to remember to switch the battery from de-sulfation state to a charging state. This extra functionality is unique to Traction Direct and present in the MPL50 product.

It gives you the peace of mind that the job is getting done, eliminating additional workload and hassle, whilst performing the optimum battery charging service available.

Our background in battery charging innovation combined with our stringent production processes mean the MPL50 battery charger offers the best all-round service and quality levels.
